The Hunger Games Movie Cast - Haymitch

Haymitch is hard character to cast. Many picture him as an old man, but in reality, he's only in his early-fifties. I know this because when District 12 is having their reaping, Collins describes him as a "paunchy, middle aged man". I wanted to find a bald actor that had an appearance of being a formerly stout, athletic young tribute. (How else would he have won the Games years ago?) To me, Kevin Costner fits the bill for the role of Haymitch. With the right make up a bit more weight around the middle, I'm sure he could embrace the role of a drunk and crotchety mentor to Katniss and Peeta.

    Would love to see Jeffrey Dean Morgan(Denny from Grey's Anatomy) for Haymitch but I like Kevin too

    actually> haymitch won the games at the querter quell. it was only 25 years b4 catching fire so haymitch is only about in his late 30s or 40s

    O.M.G. that is the most PERFECT haymitch EVER! of course, his face would have to be a tiny bit slimmer, and he would have to be real thin for the movie... but otherwise... AWESOME!

    It could work. I could see him drunk and passed out somewhere, but I could also see him talking to Katniss and Peeta about their strategy in the Hunger Games.

    That's not too bad.. but I think of him as Robert Downey Jr. He is just so scruffy and being an ass seems to come so naturally to him... and Haymitch is sorrta an asss.. so we'll see. But i'd go with Robert downey Jr.

    I'd say he'd be fine, he doesn't NOT look like Haymitch, but maybe loose some of those wrinkles and then he'd look younger and BAM! perfect Haymitch;)

    Haha, I could see him as Haymitch. Although, I soon as I read the first description of Haymitch, I thought "Johnny Depp should play Haymitch!"

    haymitch has to look sloppy but if he can play the part of a person who drinls A LOT but still sensitive to the past can he'll do...but with more weight of course

    haha johnny depp! tht is funny. he could be great i love his drunk act, but it would make me think of pirates then i would want to see orlando bloom walk in as cinna or something. haha
