This is a picture of actress Lucy Hale who stars the TV Series Privileged on the CW network. Before you shake your head and think I have Katniss all wrong, go back to the text and analyze how Katniss is described by Collins. She and Gale are very similar in appearance and demeanor. Lean, athletic, dark hair, light eyes, and beautiful with out knowing it. The country song, "She Don't Know She's Beautiful" comes to mind when I think of Katniss. She is so no-nonsense and practical, she doesn't have time to obsess about her looks like most sixteen year olds. Her need to keep her family fed trumps all of that nonsense. Imagine Hale without the glamorous Hollywood makeup and tousled hair. Can you see Katniss?

ReplyDeleteGood, good. She matches the description very, very well. She could look serious and not fed well after a little work. And there is a very good contrast with her and your choices for Prim and Mrs. Everdeen. I'd like to see her act or at least speak, though. I'll look her up.

ReplyDeleteBut I always pictured Katniss pretty. Sure, she's caked with dirt and goes hunting everyday of her life and is underfed, but remember when she went to the capitol and her Prep team cleaned her up? She was so gorgeous she didn't recognize herself. I picture Katniss very attractive, just she needs some work done. :P I saw a video of her acting.... the only problem I have is that she seems to have played girly, boyfriend-girl-friend, shallow roles. I don't know if she could pull this seriousness off. But she is a good singer!

ReplyDeleteI dont think that we show all dout her for all we know she could be a great actress and with all the wounders of make up she would look a lot better then many others that have been looked at for the part. Well that's all I wanted to say so peace be with you opinionated people. :)

ReplyDeleteI agree. Someone who can't spell "stupid," is stupid. How about Nina Dobrev? Or even Amber Stevens, Dilshad Vadsaria, or Camilla Belle. Some of those actresses( <- ) would need colored contacts. For Gale...maybe Nico Tortorella, Drew Roy, or Robert Adamson. Who do you think should play Peeta? Austin Butler might be a good Peeta. A lot of people think Alex Pettyfer should play him...

For katniss I would say emily browning. You might not have heard of her but she played Violet Baudelaire in Series of Unfortunate Events(Movie)

ReplyDeleteremember katniss is the person who shot an arrow through someone's neck and goes hunting every day!even if lucy hale is a good actress i dont think it would work. she is lacking the tough and fight-'til-death aspect that who ever is playing katniss NEEDS!i dont know who could fit the part, maybe a no-name or someone who isnt all dolly-ed up from the being a hollywood star... i just cant see her being katniss...

ReplyDeleteall right so because people don't seem to get it i'm gonna have to really put this out there: ACTING ISN'T ALWAYS PRETTY! when this girl is getting paid to do a job i'm sure she can handle it. i'm not saying she is perfect, but she could be really good. this is not going to be a pretty movie, any hollywood picture isn't going to fit the part of katniss. i can see where she would fit if they made her look like katniss. although, a new face wouldn't hurt.
ReplyDeleteon the other hand, i am all for michael welch playing peeta, he is one that easy to make younger looking and seems to have that kind of peeta personality when he plays a serious role.

I would love to hear more suggestions, but if all you are going to do is rant about what a horrible choice this is, then find another place to distribute your verbal garbage. I do this blog for fun. Let's keep our comments in that spirit. If you don't like Lucy Hale, then by all means, give us some other suggestions! Don't just get on here and gripe. Sheesh.
ReplyDeleteAnd I will just say, that any actor that is in a Twilight movie should not be considered. This book and movie are nothing like Twilight and should be treated as such. I love Twilight, but if I had to see Mike Welch play Peeta, I don't think I could stomach it. He will always be Bella's Mike. New peeps! It's hard to find them, but they're out there!

one word: no. I don't see katniss everdeen. I see a cutesy, soft, Capitol girl. Why don't they give her passerby no. 1 as a Capitol citizen? Fits right in.

mmm...probably not. i think either camilla belle[too old?] or kaya scodelario or mila kunis should mos def be katniss. kaya looks tough and pretty at the same time and mila can def be a tough, rough, yet pretty girl. nina dobrev might also be good but in my opinion shes a little too sweet looking. my vote goes for mila kunis but if camilla belle was younger def her.

All of the other actors are well chosen, too, but I think Robert Downey Jr. over that House guy would have been a better choose. :/ Oh well. Other than that, I am more that content. :)
