If You Haven't Been Watching The Vampire Diaries...

you really need to start! I really think the TV Series is doing a great job and actually improving on L.J. Smith's creation. Episode 9 was creepy-licious, and I made the mistake of watching by myself...ghost Emily about made me crap my pants a few times. Yikes! I'm hoping episode 10 is as enticiing as it's preview, and I'm pumped about the "new" history teacher...did anyone else recognize him from Blue Crush? He was Kate Bosworth's hot NFL quarterback BF in the film...any-whooo, I can't wait to see what element of hotness he brings to the show. Damon and Stefan are pretty sigh-worthy, but it never hurts to add more eye-candy to the mix! Here's a quick look at the episode I'm referring to, Episode 9 from last week:

Don't forget that you can catch up on episodes at http://www.hulu.com or here:http://www.cwtv.com/shows/the-vampire-diaries

Kelly Kapowski is Preggers!

Is it Zach's? Slater's? Or that sleazy manager at The Max, Jeff? Do you think it will come out with bangs and a set of pom-poms? I MISS THAT SHOW! Actually, it's Tiffani Theissen whose expecting, but she has to know that everyone will forever refer to her as Kelly Kapowski (who I used to idolize, btw)! People.com reports that she is due in May and is married to actor-artist Brady Smith.

If Fantasy Football is (Unfortunately) a Part of Your Life...

Everyone that knows my husband, understands that he has an obsession. He is a Fantasy Football junkie and isn't afraid to admit it. I've come to accept it, and even enjoy my Sundays of "no husband". (He's usually at Fox and the Hound for eight hours, wearing some God-awful jersey, and cheering with his buddies at the forty+ TVs they have in that place!) I do not have to hear him cursing or cheering at the TV, and he doesn't have to hear me griping because he won't move out of my way when I'm vacuuming, so it's definitely a win-win situation. He and his high school buddies have a Fantasy League that holds a big-time draft every August that requires planning, food, and all kinds of other stuff that seems too idiotic for me to type. (Any time he busts my chops about my obsession for Twilight, I just say "Fantasy Football" or "Adrian Peterson" and he shuts his gravy hole. I spend wayyyyy less time thinking about Edward Cullen than he does Adrian.) This obsession of my husbands brings me to the entire point of this post: The League on FX. The League is a sitcom inspired by dorks like my husband and his friends. It is hilarious and so amazingly accurate that I wonder if the writers have hidden cameras at Fox and the Hound. If your husband suffers from Fantasy Football madness, you may want to tune in to The League on Thursdays at 9. It is a riot and will make you wives feel less alone in the world...yes, there are other goofballs out there like your super-fly hubby!

Great Site - Especially if Your DVR Takes an Unscheduled Vacation!

If you've been meaning to watch certain hot new shows (like GLEE!), then this website is a great way to catch up on T.V. shows you've missed. Go to http://www.fancast.com/ and type in any show you want. I'm home, sick with the flu and I've already caught up on The Vampire Diaries (love the show better than the books, btw), and working on being up to speed on Modern Family and Cougar Town.

Still Loving Glee...

Songs that are performed on Glee end up on ITunes top ten the next day...no wonder! I totally forgot about the song performed on this week's show, Queen's "Somebody to Love", as well as Salt N' Pepa's "Push It", a few weeks ago. This show rocks my socks.

Glee-ful About Glee!

I'm ready for the premiere of Glee tonight at 7pm on Fox!

I don't know about you, but White Deer High School did not have a teacher that looked like Matthew Morrison. I'm basically tuning in to see him doing the Kanye song, "Gold Digger". HOT.

The Vampire Diaries Series: The Awakening by L.J. Smith

I had taken a break from vampire genre after finishing the Sookie Stackhouse series, and didn't plan on revisiting that realm of fiction for quite sometime. The premise for vampire books seem to try and follow the Twilight code: Girl falls in love with vampire, their love is forbidden, danger befalls girl. The formula is a bit old and stale, especially after Stephenie Meyer executed it so brilliantly within her series. I feel the same about The Vampire Diaries : The Awakening that I finished this afternoon. The first book, The Awakening, was intriguing, but just not up to snuff after reading Twilight and Sookie books. It felt like the same song, different verse, but this verse wasn't as catchy as the first!
The novel begins with Elena, the beautiful and confident "queen" of her high school, contemplating how wonderful the start of her senior year at Robert E. Lee high school will be for her. Stefan is the dark and mysterious new boy who snubs Elena's flirtatious advances within the first hours of the new school year. Ego bruised and seeing a new challenge before her, Elena is determined to make Stefan her new man. You can probably guess the rest of the plot, but let's just say....been there, done that!
The author, L.J. Smith, writes the tale in 3rd person point of view, so we are able to see what both Stefan and Elena are thinking and feeling throughout the novel. There are also several flashbacks to Stefan's beginning as a vampire, and within those flashbacks, we are introduced to his evil brother Damon, who is also a vampire. Although the flashbacks offer a bit more depth to Stefan's character, I never fell for him in the way that one might fall for another 17 year old vampire. Like I said, it is hard not to compare every teen vampire novel to Twilight, but I say if you're going to take that angle, it better be stinking good before you print it! Although the novel keeps the readers interest, I didn't find it to be particularly great. Apparently the execs at the CW disagree with me and have turned The Vampire Diaries books into a television show that will premiere this fall. I'm interested to see how the series compares to the book, and I will even read the second book in the series before I totally decide that I'm off of the TVD bandwagon. Check out a clip from The Vampire Diaries series below:

I can tell you that the preview looks promising and a few things are different in the preview than in the book. I'll be tuning in to see if the changes take this book series from "Ehhh..." status, to "Wow" in my mind!

George's Funeral

The Grey's Anatomy cast was photographed burying George today. I guess this means Izzy lives and it also makes me wonder how in the heck they are going to hide Ellen Pompeo's huge (and super cute) belly!

And the New American Idol is...

I’m so pumped that Kris Allen is the new American Idol! I was never on the Adam Lambert band wagon. Just like with David Archuletta, the constant praise of Adam by the judges completely turned me off of their chosen front runner. Kris might not have the huge pipes that Adam has, but Adam sounds like a Broadway singer or someone who headlines on a cruise ship…not a true musician. America did a great job of keeping the American Idol a well-rounded musician!

Jon and Kate..it really is SAD!

I have first-hand experience of what it feels like for people to judge the demise of your relationship; to pick it apart and label a scapegoat for its failure. I don't want to play that game with Jon and Kate Gosselin, the stars of the TLC reality show, Jon & Kat Plus Eight. Anytime a relationship fails and kids are involved, it's sad. They are the ultimate victims, no matter what went down between their parents. Click on the picture below to watch a video of how Jon & Kate met...I really hope they can work it out!
